Chapter 01
In 2014 James Ottewill started Van Haven in Dorset with one idea: Transporters that drove and finished like proper cars, not panel vans with bolt-ons. One person. One van. No safety net. A year of R&D before the first customer builds rolled out.
Van Haven Limited was incorporated in August 2016 as the workshop found its feet in Shillingstone. The brief never changed: structure first, finish that lasts, zero theatre.
Chapter 02
Hard-won craft became a proper engineering culture. Builds stayed fully in-house in Dorset. Specs got sharper. Nationwide delivery became normal. The team stopped proving they could convert a van and started proving they could repeat excellence.
Structure, systems and finish had to hold up on the road, not just on a photoshoot. That discipline still sits under every Van Haven pack today.
Chapter 03
On the T6.1 platform Van Haven pushed past a nice camper into the PMV: the Premium Lifestyle Vehicle. Luxury became the foundation, not an options list. Flawless function, style that stops traffic, and a van that works as hard as its owner.
Partnerships with performance and lifestyle brands raised the brief. Clients wanted individuality, executive comfort and adventure in one machine. From T6.1 to T7, every curve and every system had to earn its place.
Chapter 04
In June 2024 Van Haven opened a new 22,000 sq ft headquarters in Shillingstone. Workshop capacity tripled. Stock grew. Wrapping, service and a dedicated camper division came under one roof, backed by a seven-figure HSBC package and ten new Southwest hires.
Ten years on, the T7 era, Edition 73 and the Hambledon PMV set the pace. 2026 is about setting the national standard for high-performance, hand-built vans, then raising it. Same grit. Bigger stage.
